First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington to offer up rooms for eclipse tourists

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – While most hotels are booked for the eclipse, there are still more unique lodging options available.

After hearing a lot of other places were filled, members of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington began offering up guest rooms and spare apartments for people to stay the weekend of the eclipse.

In addition to the rooms, the church is also selling Vermont eclipse shirts designed by one of the congregates to fundraise. All the funds raised will go towards the church.

“We thought it would be a great opportunity for us to build community, practice hospitality—which is one of our values—but also to do some fundraising for the congregation,” said Reverend Karen G. Johnson, Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington.

Reverend Johnston says the church is also planning a special service on the eclipse the Sunday before the celebrations.

For those interested in the homestays, some rooms are still available for purchase for one, two or three nights April 6th through the 8th.
