Prosecutor suspected of DUI told police she had 1 drink, court papers say

BRIDPORT, Vt. (WCAX) – Addison County’s top prosecutor told police she had just one drink with dinner before they arrested her for suspected drunk driving– that’s according to court papers.

Vermont state police say when responding to the scene of a suspicious death in Bridport, troopers detected alcohol on the breath of Addison County State’s Attorney Eva Vekos.

According to court documents first reported on by VTDigger and obtained by WCAX, troopers confronted Vekos, who they say was slurring her words. They say she told police she had one drink with dinner.

Vekos refused a DUI test, and court records show she asked a trooper if she could have a friend come get her.

Vekos is expected to be arraigned in the case on Monday.
