TROY, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say a missing Vermont woman was found dead in a container on a riverbank in Troy, and that she was shot to death.
Vermont state police say the body of Kayla Wright, 29, of Derby, was discovered Tuesday inside a large container on a sand bar in the Missisquoi River in the area of Big Falls of Missisquoi State Park on River Road.

Troopers had been searching in that area for Wright, who was reported missing and had last been seen in Troy on Feb. 2.
The medical examiner on Wednesday confirmed Wright’s identity and determined she was shot in the head and that her death was a homicide.
Investigators searched a home on Route 100 in Troy Wednesday afternoon looking for evidence that could be connected to the homicide.

Police say no one is in custody, and there’s no word on any suspects in the homicide. They say believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
