JERICHO, Vt. (WCAX) – A structure fire in Jericho shut down Vermont Route 15 Thursday evening. At around 6:30 p.m. the Underhill-Jericho Fire Department were called to a fire at a home on Vt. Rte. 15. Within minutes of arriving firefighters knocked out most of the fire. A hydrant had to be used which is what closed the road to traffic. First responders say there was extensive heat, water and smoke damage to the home’s basement but limited damage to upper levels thanks to closed doors at the top and bottom of the stairs. One firefighter was injured while battling the flames. They were treated by EMS on scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
