BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Kids are racking up college credits while still in high school.
The Vermont Early College Program offers tuition-free college credits for high school seniors from the Community College of Vermont or Vermont State University.
The program started in 2013, but the Vermont State College system says they saw record participation this fall, with 377 students taking classes in 2024.
Vermont’s Department of Education says 81% of last year’s participants enrolled in college for a second year of higher education.
