TOWNSHEND, Vt. (WCAX) – Slick streets sends a sheriff’s cruiser off the road.
According to the Windham County Sheriff’s office, Deputy Thomas Bessette was driving on Route 30 near Stephenson Curve in Townshend early Saturday morning when he went off the road.
According to the sheriff’s office, he hit a telephone pole and went down an embankment where the SUV rolled.
Bessette was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released.
Vermont State Police are investigating the crash, but the Windham Sheriff’s Office says black ice is the preliminary cause.
