St. Johnsbury officer wounded in shooting returns home

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A St. Johnsbury police officer wounded in the line of duty last week is now recovering back home.

After five days in the hospital, Captain Jason Gray, accompanied by a convoy of more than two dozen emergency vehicles, arrived back home.

Police say Gray was responding to a domestic violence call on Friday when Scott Mason shot at him.

Those close to Gray say his injuries are substantial and will require a long recovery.

Mason has since pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
