NEWPORT, N.H. (WCAX) – Three Vermont men face drug and burglary charges in connection with a break-in at a Newport, New Hampshire, home.
Newport Police say they responded Tuesday to the area of Blueberry Ridge and Greenwood Roads to investigate reported suspicious activity. They say officers found that a nearby home had been burglarized and that the suspects were still inside the home at 40 Blueberry Ridge Road.
Police surrounded the home and found five people inside. They arrested three of them, including Kenneth Hodge, 40, of Thetford; Mark Sutton, 25, of Waterbury; and Zebulon Jenks, 40, of Vershire.
Hodge was charged with burglary and possession of controlled drugs. Jenks was charged with an outstanding arrest warrant for an assault out of Orford and possession of controlled drugs. And Sutton was charged with multiple outstanding arrest warrants in both Vermont and New Hampshire, including one from Essex, in which he allegedly struck and dragged a police officer with a car.
Police say the investigation continues and more charges are expected.
