Legislative advisory group on child poverty to take testimony in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A legislative advisory group that focuses on child poverty is holding a public hearing Tuesday evening in St. Johnsbury.

The Advisory Council on Child Poverty and Strengthening Families hopes to hear from residents away from the Statehouse to learn more about the concerns and problems facing local residents.

“We believe that the voices of our community members are essential to shaping meaningful policies. Hearing directly from our neighbors allows us to understand the challenges they face and empowers us to advocate for solutions that truly meet their needs. Together, we can create a brighter future for all,” Council Chair Rep. Jubilee McGill, D-Addison-5, said in a statement.

Tuesday’s event — which includes a free spaghetti dinner — is from 5 to 7 at Northeast Kingdom Community Action.
