BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Burlington City Council on Monday approved a design for the future new Winooski Bridge.
After supporting the span between Burlington and Winooski for nearly a century, engineering work in recent years revealed that the bridge had deteriorated and was also too narrow to support current needs.
The new design features a curved bridge and a widened mixed-use path. Construction on the %77 million project is set to begin in 2027 and last between two and three years.
Both cities are footing about five percent of that cost.
