Vermonters enjoy the recent Champlain Valley snowfall

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Wintery weather across our region brought out a few folks who are enjoying the snowy scene.

Jack Farrins and his family walked down Church Street, trudging through ice and snow. They were on their way to get their letters to Santa in the mailbox at the end of the block.

The city of Burlington was packed with snow dusted cars, signs and adorned with holiday lights. Passersby kept hands firmly in pockets and barefoot dogs braved the frozen pavement as the snow continued to fall and fall.

UVM Student Brigid Gerie was out for a quiet walk with her camera, hoping to capture white flakes and streaks as the city changed before her eyes.

“It’s the one weather that’s still magical for everyone… I just like how it transforms the city into something completely else,” she said.

Roads throughout the Champlain Valley developed a thick layer, turning to slush in more trafficked places, making for a messy evening commute.

Some put down salt on the sidewalks. While it may melt some Monday snow, the wintry weather is sticking around with some of it potentially causing flooding by mid-week.
