Vermont State Police release name of victim in Swanton fatal house fire

SWANTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont State Police say they believe they have found the body of a woman who died Wednesday after a fire destroyed her home in Swanton.

They say the fire was called in just after 1:00 p.m. by the home’s owner, 81-year-old Normand Lussier. Lussier also said he could not find his girlfriend, 78-year-old Constance Hall, during the fire.

Multiple crews arrived to the scene, but the home could not be saved and eventually collapsed due to the damage. Police now say they have found a body in a bedroom area of the home believed to be Constance Hall. The body of her Dog Rosie was found with her.

The body was brought to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but police say right now there is no evidence of “direct human involvement”.
