UVM Medical Center staff to rally against health care cuts

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Hospital staff are up in arms about proposed cuts to health services statewide.

On Thursday, they’re rallying against those plans from UVM Health Network.

The unions representing nurses and support staff say the health care cuts threaten patient care quality and will make Vermont’s health care crisis worse.

WCAX has reported at length about these cuts closing one center and downsizing another.

Three dialysis centers across the state are also on the chopping block.

According to organizers, the plan to further downsize inpatient beds at UVMMC will only strain emergency department staff.

That rally starts at 12 p.m. at UVM Medical Center in Burlington.
