State leaders call to revert border crossing hours

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WCAX) – Vermont state leaders are calling for change to border crossing hours.

We told you about the plan from border patrol to shorten hours at crossings across our region. Now, leaders in Washington are calling for change.

Vermont’s congressional delegation is asking the customs and border protection acting commissioner to return six ports of entry to pre-pandemic hours.

That’s after they announced two border crossings will keep pandemic hours and four more crossings will shorten their hours.

They say the reduction will harm the economy and public safety of Alburgh, Canaan, Derby Line, North Troy, and West Berkshire where the reduced hours are proposed.
