Plattsburgh airport announces new nonstop connection to Myrtle Beach

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Travelers in New York’s North Country will have a new connection to the Southeast next spring.

Plattsburgh International Airport officials announced Wednesday that Allegiant is launching new nonstop flights to Myrtle Beach starting May 15.

It’s a destination that was previously offered seasonally out of Plattsburgh by another carrier that went away during the pandemic.

Plattsburgh International Airport Director Chris Kreig says Allegiant plans to offer twice weekly afternoon flights there on Thursday and Sunday.

“It was a popular, popular market, popular service. So, we are looking forward to getting that started again,” Kreig said.

The low-cost carrier already serves five Florida destinations from Plattsburgh.

Kreig also said another carrier, Contour, still has plans to switch its essential service from Philadelphia to Washington-Dulles sometime after the new year.
