NY authorities warn of ‘jury duty’ phone scam

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Authorities in Clinton County, New York, are warning residents about a new phone scam.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office says the caller identifies themselves as a police officer and claims the victim has missed jury duty. They say threaten to issue an arrest warrant unless a payment is made of a $500 gift card.

Officials say law enforcement would not do this and urge residents not gto ive out personal information over payments over the phone to anyone they don’t know.
