New $8M affordable housing project coming to West Rutland

WEST RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – More affordable housing is coming to Rutland County.

The new $8 million development in West Rutland will be called Marble Village Apartments.

The Housing Trust of Rutland County, the town of West Rutland, and Evernorth partnered on the three-story, 24-unit housing.

“It is really important. Our market studies show that there is a need for 2,700 affordable units in Rutland County alone right now. We are building 24, it’s just a drop in the bucket, but every unit counts,” said the trust’s Mary Cohen.

The project will be centrally located with easy access to town amenities. It is expected to be completed a year from now.
