Burlington man faces federal drug charges

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Burlington man has been arrested on federal drug charges.

Authorities say Nicolelus Sanborn, 30, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Burlington to an indictment charging him with distributing fentanyl.

According to court records, Sanborn sold the drugs as part of a controlled purchase operation in May.

Sanborn faces additional state charges after South Burlington Police say he attacked an officer in July. He was wanted on an arrest warrant for failing to report to a substance abuse treatment program.

If convicted, Sanborn faces up to 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
