WEST RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A West Rutland drive through tradition is growing each year on Halloween.
A local West Rutland business and Pleasant Street residents joined forces to put on a Halloween drive through each holiday. Neighbors say about 250 to 300 cars pass through the block each Halloween, and they give out goodie bags for adults and kids.
Organizers say they started it during the COVID-19 pandemic, and say more people who have seen the event have asked to start helping out prior to the holiday.
“The inclusion, and a lot of people that are here, we get a lot of folks that show up that ask us, ‘hey can I participate?’ Yes! you know we try and get as many people involved so that we have a number of people that are here that can participate and help out and do as much as possible,” said Rutland resident Steven Schutt.
Neighbors hope to see more cars pass through each year and also have a Christmas drive through as well.
