New York bolsters voter safety measures

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – New Yorkers make their voices heard with early voting now underway in the Empire State.

Governor Kathy Hochul is working to protect New Yorkers’ safety at the polls.

Hochul says the state is prepared for anything from power or internet outages to severe weather.

And when it comes to election fallout, she says law enforcement is prepared.

“New York stands ready to manage any election-related protests, demonstrations, or whatever in the hours and days following November 5. I’ve directed the New York State Police and the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services to assist local law enforcement agencies statewide to ensure that any large gatherings or protests remain peaceful and safe,” said Hochul.

The election is on November 5th.
