BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Brooklyn, New York, man accused of causing a multi-car crash in Burlington last week pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon.
Police say Ron Thomas, 21, went through a busy Burlington intersection, leading to a three-car crash. One of the drivers — a 78-year-old man — was seriously injured and needed emergency surgery.
Police say Thomas, who remains hospitalized, stole the car from New York.
Thomas also faces drug charges connected to a deadly car chase in Colchester back in May.
Police say he was among a group of five that led police on a chase in a stolen rental car. The chase ended after the car crashed on East Lakeshore Drive, killing two people and hospitalizing three others, including Thomas. He has already pleaded not guilty in that case.
