BEEKMANTOWN, N.Y. (WCAX) – A North Country man is dead after crashing his motorcycle and being hit by a train.
New York State Police say it happened Saturday just before noon in Beekmantown.
Troopers say Michael LaPierre, 61, of West Chazy, New York, was riding his motorcycle on Ashley Road and didn’t see a railroad crossing bar in the down position and hit it. They say that threw him off the bike and onto the tracks, where he was hit by a train.
He died at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
