Federal funding to support cybersecurity innovation at Norwich University

NORTHFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont university is celebrating funding to tout tech.

Norwich University will get $250,000 in federal funding to support the schools’ work to advance cybersecurity innovation.

The money will support the Norwich University Applied Research Institutes and their work to advance cybersecurity research and innovation. It will be used to bolster domestic manufacturing and the development of technology designed to detect potential threats.

Sen. Peter Welch and Rep. Becca Balint announced the funding released from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

“Keeping manufacturers safe from cyberattacks is crucial to our national economic security. Supporting initiatives like NUARI’s innovative research to develop better cyber threat detection is vital to protecting our manufacturers and boosting industrial competitiveness,” Welch and Balint said in a joint statement.
