BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – One southern Vermont historical site is getting federal attention.
The National Parks Service announced funding headed to sites of national significance across the country, including an author’s hideaway in Dummerston.
The landmark trust will get over $400,000 for Naulakha, the home bought by acclaimed English writer Rudyard Kipling along with 12 acres on a Vermont hillside.
It’s the place where Kipling wrote works including the Jungle Book.
It was designated a national historical landmark in 1993 and the latest round of funding will go towards climate adaptation for the site.
