Police capture wanted Vermont man

NEWPORT, Vt. (WCAX) – Police have arrested a Vermont man who they say was on the run for three weeks.

Vermont State Police say Jason Willey, 40, was arrested Saturday in Newport on six warrants.

He was also wanted by the police in Newport on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an incident in July when police say Willey hit a 17-year-old with a shovel.

Police say they tried to arrest him earlier this month but he ran away and has been actively avoiding arrest since.
