BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) – Crews are taking to the skies this month to help a public health issue on the ground.
The rabies bait vaccine drops are done annually to target infected wildlife. About 300,000 quarter-sized blister packs of bait containing the rabies vaccine will be distributed across 10 Vermont counties: Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, and Washington. The sweet-smelling bait is attractive to skunks and raccoons. They are not dangerous to people or pets.
In this week’s Wildlife Watch, Ike Bendavid learns more about what crews are doing to battle rabies in our region.
