CONCORD, N.H.(WCAX) – New Hampshire-area fire departments are taking part in an effort to dispose of firefighting foam that contains so-called forever chemicals.
A collection event was held in Concord Tuesday afternoon to help local departments dispose of fire-suppressing foam containing PFAS. New Hampshire is partnering with with the company Revive Environmental Technology, which offers a new way to dispose of the chemicals rather than throwing them away or burning them.
“It was really important for us not to leave a legacy of liability — for instance, if this was a landfill — and we are thrilled to have a process where we can actually see this destroyed,” said NH Environmental Services Commissioner Bob Scott.
New Hampshire is hosting ten PFAS collection events this month around the state.
