ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – New York Governor Kathy Hochul is helping residents impacted by the storm as they recover.
Hochul directed the Housing and Community Renewal Agency to launch an emergency repair program for residents in five counties, including Franklin.
The move will help homeowners impacted by the storm.
She says that state officials will start assessing if they can request federal disaster relief from resources from FEMA, adding that the Empire State has been battered this year. “Actually, communities all over the State of New York are experiencing such extreme weather this year. This has been an extremely bad, extreme weather year in the State of New York. Places like the North Country and Lewis County are seriously damaged. I’ll be heading up there in another day or so,” said Gov. Hochul.
Hochul says that under the emergency repair program, homeowners in Franklin County, among others, are eligible for grants up to $50,000 for storm damage costs that aren’t covered by insurance.
