Hochul announces funds to support dairy farmers

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced $21 million for on-farm projects to help farmers improve their water quality and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Under the program, farmers will get help implementing projects to increase manure and nutrient management and carbon sequestration.

This is the latest move to support dairy farmers from Hochul, who declared June as Dairy Month in New York.

“The dairy industry is a powerhouse of New York’s economy, creating thousands of local jobs while nourishing our communities statewide,” Hochul, D-New York, said in a statement. “Dairy Month is an opportunity to celebrate our tremendous dairy farmers and manufacturers and we are working to ensure they can continue putting these products on the tables of New Yorkers for years to come.”
