BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A project to revamp a small Burlington park should be complete later this summer after facing continued delays.
The Champlain Street Park near the waterfront has been a hotspot for the homeless and drug activity in recent years. The city has been trying to renovate the park since 2019 and landed on a final design in 2022. The outdated playground was updated but due to some construction issues, it was forced to close earlier this spring.
“Unfortunately the vendor who put the surface in the playground didn’t quite get it right, so they have to come back in July to fix it — then we will make it open to the community,” said the city’s Cindi Wight.
When completed, picnic tables will be added so the whole community can enjoy the park.
