ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – It’s a wrap on New York’s legislative session, and Governor Kathy Hochul is touting some legislation heading to her desk.

Friday evening, Governor Hochul spoke to the legislature as they closed out the session.

In her speech, she highlighted key issues that passed, including a bill to protect kids from what she called the addictive algorithms on social media.

Hochul also applauded the almost $2 billion going towards new housing incentives in the Empire State.

“So, a lot of effort, and sometimes we find that issues are not immediately popular, but it’s still up to the leaders to push through the noise and have significant accomplishments. So, in that case, we went after it for a second year. And guess what? We got it done,” said Hochul.

Hochul also emphasized affordability this session, saying they eliminated copays on insulin, protected New Yorkers from medical debt, and became the first state in the nation to guarantee paid prenatal care for mothers.
