CLAREMONT, N.H. (WCAX) – A program from the Community College System of New Hampshire offers students a chance to get a jump-start on their coursework at a great price.
River Valley Community College in Claremont, New Hampshire, has started its “Summer’s on Us” program. It offers students two free classes this summer if they are enrolled for at least nine credits in the fall.
The program is being rolled out in all of New Hampshire’s seven community colleges. College officials say it could benefit both adults students and those who just graduated high school.
“It is a great retention tool, but it’s also a great recruitment tool. So, we will be able to expose the public to our college by offering a couple free classes. And also really save some money for students, especially high school students,” said Suzanne Groenewold of River Valley Community College.
College officials estimate it’s about $1,300 in savings if you take the maximum eight credits.
River Valley offers two-year associate’s degrees and one-year certificate programs.
