BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The city of Burlington on Monday will usher in its first new mayor in 12 years.
With Democrat Miro Weinberger’s term now complete, Progressive Emma Mulvaney-Stanak will officially take the reins.
She will take the oath of office at Monday night’s City Council meeting and deliver her inaugural address.
Mulvaney-Stanak is not only the first new mayor in more than a decade, she’s the first woman to hold the office.
Immediately after she is inaugurated, Mulvaney-Stanak will swear in the eight City Council members.
Mulvaney-Stanak is resigning from her seat in the Vermont House.
