ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – The total solar eclipse is April 8, and as people make individual plans to enjoy this celestial event, the Department of Corrections is planning something big.
Earlier this month, a viewer wrote in asking if Vermont’s prisons would be arranging an event for the eclipse, and the answer is yes. The correctional facility in St. Albans is in the path of totality, and Isaac Dayno from Vermont’s Department of Corrections says inmates will get the chance to view it.
“We are trying to bring elements of Vermont’s communities into our correctional settings. That could be something as simple as viewing an astronomical phenomenon,” said Dayno
DOC says they have arranged eclipse safe-viewing glasses for the inmates.
