BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – As snow continues to move through the region on Saturday, officials in Burlington announced a City wide parking ban.

According to the Department of Public Works, the parking ban will go into effect beginning at 10 p.m. and ending at 7 a.m. Sunday.

In the downtown zone the ban is in effect midnight – 6 a.m. Sunday.

With challenging areas and freezing conditions overnight, this will help to keep streets and sidewalks clear, DPW says.

Nearly 30 members of the Public Works team will be working overnight driving the trucks and tractors; working in our garage to maintain and repair the fleet; and enforcing the snow ban to promote the safest possible conditions.

Any vehicles remaining on the street during the parking ban may be issued a $150 parking ticket ($75 for towing; $75 for the enforcement ticket) by Burlington Parking Services and towed to another location.
