PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Another candidate is entering Plattsburgh’s mayoral race. Independent Iris Cain says he’s throwing his hat in the ring.
Cain says the city’s next mayor needs to capitalize on things like waterfront development and recreation, as well as arts and entertainment.
The 28-year-old moved to Plattsburgh from New York City shortly after the end of the pandemic. He says his background in business management makes him the right fit for the city’s top job.
“I think we should invest in Plattsburgh. I think it is important to go all in on this and really see a great return, not just for the next 10 years, I want to see positive changes that are going to last for the next 30, 40, 50 years– hopefully forever,” Cain said.
Cain also says he wants the city to build an entertainment complex that could host sporting events, concerts and live plays.
