WASHINGTON. (WCAX) – Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is touting progress in reducing the cost of inhalers.
Sanders, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, has been investigating the prices of inhalers.
He says out-of-pocket costs for uninsured Vermonters can run hundreds of dollars for an inhaler, versus a fraction of that in other countries.
Drugmaker Boehringer Ingelheim has agreed to cap the cost at $35, and this week, AstraZeneca agreed to follow suit.
Sanders calls it a win for bringing down the cost of medicine.
