LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (WCAX) – The Millers Run Covered Bridge in Lyndon has taken another hit.

The nearly 200-year-old bridge was hit by a box truck Thursday morning. Lyndonville Police say officers located the vehicle on Lynburke Road near Calendar Brook Road and the driver, Sereign M. Diop of Woonsocket, RI, was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.

The bridge has been hit by numerous trucks over the years, including at least half a dozen times last year. Town officials last year budgeted up to $30,000 for steel I-beams to protect the bridge.

Drivers who hit the bridge can face a $1,600 fine.
