CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (WCAX) – Skiing superstar and Burke Mountain Academy graduate Mikaela Shiffrin was taken to the hospital to be checked for a leg injury on Friday after crashing during a competition in Italy.
It happened at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in Cortina d’Ampezzo on the course for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.
Shiffrin was midway through her run when she lost control while landing a jump and crashed into the safety nets around the slope.
She was helped off the course with her left boot raised off the snow.
Shiffrin is the most successful skier of all time with a record 95 World Cup wins.
